This article will guide you through the process of uploading files for transcription, ensuring a smooth and successful experience.
Preparing Your Files
Before uploading, ensure your files are in a supported format. We accept most common audio and video formats. We also support multi-channel audio formats, including For the Record TRM files.
Our full list of supported formats is as follows:

If you have multiple files from the same proceeding, you can combine them into a ZIP folder. The total size of your upload (including ZIP files) must be under 20GB. If you are uploading multiple files not intended to be combined into a single transcript, you will need to create separate orders.
The Upload Process
- Start a New Order: Click "Order Legal Transcript" at the top of your screen.
- Upload Your Files: Drag and drop your main audio/video file(s) into the designated upload area, or select them from your computer.
-
-
Important Note about Ordering: Our Legal Checkout allows you to order ONE transcript per order. While you can upload multiple files within a single order (especially if they are meant to be combined), the system will always produce a single transcript. If you need multiple transcripts from different files, you'll need to create separate orders for each.
-
Combining Files: If you have multiple files that belong to the same transcript (e.g., Part 1 and Part 2 of a recording), you can upload them together under primary audio in two ways:
- End to end - most common. In this example, files are for some reason split into part 1, part 2, etc, and need to be combined into one proceeding and one transcript.
- Combining single-channel audio for the same proceeding into one multichannel audio. Imagine, you recorded a proceeding as a multichannel file, but exported each channel as a separate audio file. You can upload each of the separate audio files and select the second option to stitch them together laterally into one multichannel audio (not end to end).

Please note, if combining sequentially:
- The files MUST be in the right order. EX: part 1, then part 2, then part 3. We will stitch them together in the order they're uploaded.
-
When combining files, they must be the same file type (For example, we can't stitch together an MP3 and an MP4).
-
Please note, if combining sequentially:
-
- Specify Proceeding Type and Reference Information: Choose the appropriate proceeding type (deposition, hearing, etc.). Add any relevant reference information, such as internal job numbers, witness names, or case details under the reference name. Usually, clients use the reference name as a place to identify transcripts in billing. Often clients use internal job numbers, witness names, etc.
-
Attach Supporting Materials: Attach any supporting materials that will aid in transcription accuracy. Depending on the type of proceeding type you select, the recommended resources will change.
- Choose Service Level and Delivery Date: Select your desired service level: Ready to Certify Premium (for enterprise only), Ready to Certify, Human Rough Draft, or Instant Rough Draft. You can order multiple transcripts and service levels for the same audio/video file. Choose your preferred delivery date for each service. Pricing varies depending on turnaround time.
- Delivery Timing Tips: Our calendar automatically grays out unavailable dates (federal holidays, Rev-specific holidays). Delivery is guaranteed by 11:59 PM EST on your chosen delivery date. We strive to deliver earlier whenever possible.
- Review and Submit: Carefully review all order details: selected services, delivery dates, price estimate, and attached files. Select your payment method (invoice, credit card, or prepaid balance), add any recipient emails, and submit your order.
