Burned-in Captions and Subtitles

The end product for captions and subtitles is what is known as a sidecar file. It's a versatile, text-based file that you then add to your video by uploading the sidecar file to the online platform where your video is hosted. Viewers can toggle these captions and subtitles on or off. You'll receive these sidecar formats by default when placing a captions or subtitles order, but with the burned-in video add-on, you can download your captions or subtitles as a video as well.

Or next to Burned-in Subtitles, depending on which service you're ordering.

Click on the order number to open the order information page.

At the bottom of that page, click on Order Burned-In Captions

Follow the on-screen instructions to add the add-on service to your order.

Once the final version of your video is ready, you’ll receive an email with a link to download it. That link will be live for 7 days, but you can also re-download open-captioned videos from the download modal for any caption order where the burned-in add-on was ordered.

Download Burned-in Captions and Subtitles

Once your order has been completed, you can download or reprocess your burned-in video by following these steps:

Download from the editor

Select your file from your Workspace page to open it up in our Captions and Subtitles Editor.

Click on the download button in the top right of the Customer Editor.

Download from your order history

Navigate to your Order History on the left panel menu of your account.

Click on the order number to open the order information page, then click on Download to the right of the file you want to download.

Once you click on Download, the download options menu will open.

Remove the SRT option from the pop-up so that only video remains, then click download

The burned-in video will not be downloaded instantaneously like the other caption output formats; instead, you will be notified via email once your burned-in video is ready, which takes roughly one-fifth of the length of the video (i.e. a 10-minute video may take about 2 minutes to burn the captions in).

Customize Burned-in Captions and Subtitles

In the download options menu you can customize the appearance of your burned-in text before downloading the file. Select Customize under Burned-video appearance and then click Next

On the next screen you will fine burned-in caption customization options.

The options you have available are split into two sections:
