Release Date: Aug 14, 2024
Release Note Date: Aug 6, 2024
Overview
In this release we’ve made a few enhancements to the legal order placement environment on Rev.com to serve Legal customers. The main functionality we’re enabling is the ability to upload, ingest, and seamlessly work on multichannel audio files for transcription. See below for detail on the key features.
Features
-
For The Record (.trm) ingestion with automatic file sorting and stitching
Now upload FTR files during checkout. Proceedings that are split into many smaller files (ex. 1 proceeding split into 20 smaller files) will be automatically sorted by the date and time in the file name. Files are then stitched together before the transcription process begins and a single legal transcript is delivered back.
-
Multichannel audio transcription
Rev’s checkout and internal transcriptionist tools have been updated to allow enhanced processing and control over specific audio channels in the recording.
Order check out support
Stitch together separate mic recordings into a single multichannel file. Ideal for events that produce different audio files for each mic present and when individual channels have been exported into separate files.
Supported file types:
- .mp3
- .wav
- .aac
- .ogg
- .flac
- .wma
- .m4a
- .ape
- .trm
Limits:
- File length - All file lengths must be the same
- File combination limit - 16
- File channel limit - 16
Backend tool updates
Tools now allow control of volume and isolation of specific channels. This functionality is key to capturing the record for more complex proceedings.
Customer benefits
- Higher quality and less inaudible moments when transcribing more complex legal events (hearings, trials, arbitrations, etc.)
- Improved SLAs by reducing and eliminating requests to customers for additional audio files and direction
- Requests for additional audio and other items can result in transcript production losses of up to 1 day or more
- Switching between audio channels instead of files can save up to 1 hour of transcriptionist time
Notes & Tips for Placing Successful Orders
- Organize files in the order they should be stitched in these. Ttwo common scenarios:
- Once files are uploaded, you can drag and drop them into the correct order.
- Organize the files in the correct order on your device in a folder and then batch upload them - our upload system will maintain the same file ordering.
- FTR (.trm) files are automatically sorted by file name, with no additional sorting required.
Note: If you happen to have one file that does not conform to the file naming structure, upload the conforming files first and the non-comforming last. You’ll be able to adjust the order of the non-conforming without having to reorganize the rest.
- Name your files in sequence – ahead of uploading your audio files, we suggest you have a naming convention for your files that aid in your manual sorting during order placement.
- Multichannel limits are based on our transcoding service, and the actual limit for files/channels (16) that can be combined into a single multi-channel file
