Upload a File from Voice Memos

You can send a recording from Apple’s Voice Memos app to Rev in two ways: share it straight to the Rev app, or save it to the Files app and then upload it to your Rev account.

Share a recording to the Rev app

Use this option if the Rev app is installed on your iPhone or iPad and you’re signed in.

  1. Open the Voice Memos app and tap the recording you want transcribed.
  2. Tap the More (…) icon, then tap Share.
  3. Tap the Rev app.
  4. Keep the Rev app open, and keep your device unlocked, until the upload finishes. If the app is closed or the screen locks, the upload can stop.

Save a recording to Files and upload it

  1. Open the Voice Memos app and tap the recording you want transcribed.
  2. Tap the More (…) icon to open the recording’s options.

3. Tap Save to Files.

4. Tap On My iPhone (or On My iPad), choose a folder, and tap Save.

5. Upload the file to Rev. In the Rev app or on rev.com, start an upload, tap Browse (or Choose Files), go to the folder where you saved the recording, and tap the file.

Upload from a Mac

  1. Open the Voice Memos app on your Mac.
  2. Drag the recording from the list to your desktop or to a folder in Finder. This saves it as an .m4a file.
  3. Go to rev.com, start an upload, and select the saved file.
