Prepaid Balance

A prepaid balance is money you add to your Rev account ahead of time, then use to pay for pay-as-you-go orders such as human transcription, captions, and subtitles. Teams often use one so people can place orders without entering a credit card each time. This article explains what a prepaid balance can pay for, how to add funds, how to pay with it, and how to check what’s left.

A prepaid balance cannot be used to pay for a monthly subscription. Your subscription payment method can only be changed under Manage Subscription.

What a Prepaid Balance Covers

A prepaid balance pays for pay-as-you-go human-verified services, including human transcription, captions, and subtitles. It can also pay for orders placed through the Rev API.

A prepaid balance can’t be used to pay for a subscription. Subscription payment methods and prepaid balances are kept separately, and your subscription payment method can only be changed under Manage Subscription.

Your balance must cover the full order total, including any sales tax. If the balance is too low, checkout shows an insufficient funds message. Add funds or choose another payment method.

Add a Prepaid Balance

Prepaid balances aren’t refundable under Rev’s Terms of Service. Any remaining balance is lost if you close your account.

  1. Go to Account Settings.
  2. Select the Payment details tab.
  3. Under Prepay balance, select Add to balance.
  4. Enter the amount you want to add.
  5. Choose a payment method, either a credit card or PayPal, and enter your details.
  6. Select Save.

You can add funds with any major credit card or a PayPal account.

Pay With Your Prepaid Balance

To pay with your prepaid balance, start your order from Human-verified services in the left sidebar. At checkout, select your prepaid balance as the payment method.

Orders started from My Files (by selecting a file and choosing to order a service) can be paid only with the card on your subscription or with invoicing. Your prepaid balance isn’t available there.

For Rev API orders, your prepaid balance is used automatically when your account has no invoicing set up.

Check Your Balance

Your remaining balance appears under Prepay balance on the Payment details tab in Account Settings. It’s also shown at checkout when you pay with your balance.
