Rev delivers Legal Transcripts in either Word doc or ASCII (txt) format. If you ordered a Word document and later need a txt file, you can convert your transcript by following the steps below.

In Word, check to see if you have a Generic/Text Only printer installed by going to File → Print and select the Printer drop-down.

If you do not see Generic/Text Only listed in the drop-down, you can follow these instructions to install.

With your Legal Transcript open in Word, navigate to File → Print and ensure the Generic/Text Only printer is selected. Select Print to file, then click Print.

A file save window will open. Under Save as type select All Files.

In the File name field, enter your desired file name and append .txt to the end. (Ex. ’20241030 Hearing.docx’ would now be ‘20241030 Hearing.txt')

Click OK and allow a few moments for the file conversion to process. You can check the status in the bar at the bottom of the document in Word.
