Connect Kaltura and Rev Accounts

Below are the steps you need to take in order to connect your Rev and Kaltura accounts.

If you need help, please email support@rev.com.

Ensure your Rev account has a payment source

Please note: you will not be able to place orders on KMC or KMS if you do not have a payment source

There are two ways to add payment:
- Add a credit card on the Account Billing Settings page
- Fill out this form to become a corporate customer - you'll be billed monthly at the end of the month.

Add a New Linked Account on Rev.com

In your Rev Account Settings page, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the Link New Account button.

An arrow points to Link New Account under Integration Settings.

Input Kaltura Credentials

Select Kaltura and enter the following information from your Kaltura account (All of these fields can be found in KMC under SettingsIntegration Settings).

The Link New Account box is shown with Kaltura selected as the option for Type.

Once you have filled in the required fields above, then click on the Link button.  Your Rev account is now connected to your Kaltura account.

Kaltura KMS - Install Rev Plugin

Below are the steps you need to take in order to install the Rev KMS plugin.

If you need help, please email support@rev.com.

The first step is to make sure you're ready to install the plugin

You need to have created a Rev account and linked your Rev and Kaltura accounts.

If KMS is hosted by Kaltura there are two options:

  • Open a support ticket and request enablement and configuration of the Rev module. Support can do this from your KMS admin configuration panel.
  • AND/OR Reach out to your Kaltura CSM (if you do this, I would open a ticket as well and send them the case #).

If KMS is hosted by you:

  1. Clone the repo.
  2. Copy contents of the rev-kms-plugin into new Rev folder under modules or modulesCustom folder of your KMS installation.
  3. Navigate to <your_mediaspace_url>/admin/config/tab/rev and set up the module.

Kaltura KMC - Order Captions

Below are the steps you need to take in order to use our Rev / KMC integration.

If you need help, please email support@rev.com.

Create a “Rev” Category

In KMC, go to the Content tab, then the Categories tab. In the upper left side of the screen you’ll see a green button to Add Category.

An arrow points to Add Category under Categories.

Name the new Category Rev and then select the parent category under which the new category will appear.  If you're looking for a sub-category within a parent category, then click the arrow next to the parent category and it will show you the subcategories for that parent.

Start tagging your videos with the “Rev” Category

Go to the Content tab, then the Entries tab and select a video.

Type Rev in the Category box and click on Rev in the dropdown option. Click on Save in the upper right.  You're all set.  Kaltura will look for new orders at the 15 minute mark every hour.

The Categories section of Metadata with Rev selected is highlighted.

Once the video has been received by Rev, it will create a Sub-Category called Rev - Captioning.

An arrow points to Captioning under Sub-Categories.

Once the order has been completed and the caption file has been uploaded, it will be moved to the Rev - Completed Sub-Category.

An arrow points to Completed under Sub-Categories.

Kaltura KMS - Order Captions

Below are the steps you need to take in order to order captions from Kaltura MediaSpace. Please note: your systems administrator must install the Rev KMS plugin first.

If you need help, please email support@rev.com.

Navigate to the video you want to caption and choose Order Captions from the Actions menu.

Click the blue Order Captions button.

Track your caption order progress

After placing the order, you'll see a message that your order is in progress.

When the order is complete, you'll see a message telling you that the caption file has been uploaded to the video.
