You can easily identify whether you ordered captions or transcripts based on your order number. Caption orders will begin with CP########## and transcription orders will begin with TC##########.
If you're wondering why we can't just convert the files you received to a different service, that's a fair question, and we're glad to provide more insight into the process. Because the two services are completed by different team members using different guidelines, we don't have a way to convert a transcription order to a caption order or vice versa using an automated tool or file converter.
Transcription files don't contain the needed timing and text breaks required in a caption file. Caption files don't contain the needed speaker labels and paragraph format required in a transcription file. These elements are handcrafted by our caption and transcription team members.
How to Receive the Correct Service?
If you ordered captions but needed a transcript, you could download our .txt format for free from your Workspace. The .txt format is a plain text file that does not contain timecode or speaker labels like a standard transcription order but can be used as a rough draft transcript.
You're welcome to upload your file to a new captions or transcription order and we would be glad to get that completed for you.
