How do I find the shareable URL for my file in the cloud?
To place an order for human transcription using files stored in a cloud service (Dropbox, Google Drive, Box, etc.,) visit https://www.rev.com/services/audio-transcription and click the purple Get Transcripts button. On the next page, click the purple Paste A URL button.
If you choose to paste a URL to place your order, the file might be living in a cloud storage site such as Dropbox or Google Drive. The URL in your browser may not work for us the same way it will for you, so use the instructions below to ensure you're sending us the correct "share" link.
Dropbox
Important Note: At this time, links to folders will not work with our site. You must paste the link to the individual file.
- Locate the file in your Dropbox account. Hover over the file and click the ellipsis menu (...) on the far right, then select Share from the dropdown list.
- At the bottom of the pop-up that appears, under Share a link instead, click Create link. This will generate a unique link for a third party like Rev to view your file.
- The text changes to Copy link once the link has been created. Click this to copy the link, then paste it into the Rev.com checkout page.
You can also generate a shareable link when viewing the file in Dropbox. Click the Share button (not the dropdown arrow) in the upper right of the screen to open the sharing dialogue and copy the link.
Google Drive
- In your list of files in Google Drive, right-click the file, then select Get shareable link.
- Ensure that link sharing is toggled on in the pop-up that appears and that the privacy settings are Anyone with the link can view. If you need to adjust the privacy settings, click Sharing settings.
- Copy the URL, then paste it into the Rev.com checkout page.
You can also generate a shareable link when viewing the file in Drive. Click the ellipsis menu in the upper right of the screen, then click Share to open the sharing dialogue and copy the link.
Box
- In your Box account, Click the Share button on the far right to open the sharing options for a file or folder.
- Under Share Link, toggle the button to enable sharing and ensure it's set to People with the link and Can view and download.
- Copy the URL, then paste it into the Rev.com checkout page.
You can also generate a shareable link when viewing the file in Box. Click the Share button in the upper right of the screen to open the sharing dialogue and copy the link.
OneDrive
- In your OneDrive account, hover over the file name or folder, select it, then click Share at the top of the screen. If you're in Tile view, hover over the file's thumbnail to select it.
- Ensure the privacy settings are Anyone with the link can view, then click Copy link at the bottom of the pop-up.
- Copy the URL, then paste it into the Rev.com checkout page.
You can also generate a shareable link when viewing the file in OneDrive. Click the Share button in the upper left of the screen to open the sharing dialogue and copy the link.
